The Destination Alert Feature On The Amber Alert GPS Device

As kids get older they want to be given more and more independence so they can do things on their own. It starts with little things like kids wanting to feed themselves and grows to bigger things like wanting to ride their bike to school. For parents it can be hard to give up doing these things for their child but allowing them to grow up is something that must happen even if the chances of them getting hurt are there.

For parents who have a child who wants to start walking to school or riding their bike alone to school there is a little peace of mind they can purchase to make this little bit of freedom easier to give to their child. The Amber Alert GPS child locator is a handy device that allow parents to find the exact location of their child at any given time. While this is a comforting device that is easy to use and small enough that it can be worn around the neck or wrist of the child it has several great features that make it even more handy than just simple personal tracking.

The device also includes a destination alert which parents can program into the web interface that will send an alert to their cell phone when their child arrives at any chosen destination. Now when a child heads off to school parents will not have to worry about if they arrived safely or not since this GPS tracking device will alert them that they did either via cell phone or email. The peace of mind makes giving a child some freedom as they get older a little easier to do despite the fact we all want to kesep our children young and safe.

The Amber Alert GPS And Teens

While most parents are more concerned with protecting their smaller child from abduction and usually only consider a device like the Amber Alert for this age group there are benefits to outfitting a teen with one of these as well. Many parents opt to keep tabs on their teen via a cell phone and this is a decent choice but there are limits to a cell phone and the bill can in some months get a little out of hand.

An Amber Alert GPS tracking device has a feature that will let parents check the speed in which the device and therefore the child is traveling. For parents trying to keep teen drivers safe being able to check to make sure they are driving at safe speeds can go a long way to making them a better driver. There is even a speed alert that will send parents an alert when it is exceeded. In many cases just knowing parents can find out how fast they are driving will make teens more responsible.

Not only can parents track the speed of teens but use the device to ensure that their teen is doing and going to the places they are telling them they are. While cell phones are useful for actually talking to a teen it will not report to you on where they are and is only useful when they actually answer it.

While designed for smaller children this GPS child locator device has many applications and potential for teens. Of course parents need to be aware that even teens are in danger of being kidnapped so not only will it keep teens in check but protect them from dangers they tend to let their guard down on now that they are older.

Setting Safe Zones On The Amber Alert GPS Child Locator

One of the features that parents appreciate most on the Amber Alert GPS child locator is the ability to program in safe zones. Safe zones are areas, most often around the neighborhood they live, where children spend a considerable amount of time playing with friends. Of course a zone do not have to be around the home, it can be anywhere a parent chooses it to be.

These safe zones are areas which parents can define in the web interface for the unit that will allow them to receive an instant notification should the GPS tracking device and the child leave the zone. Since kids out playing with friends usually have boundaries they are supposed to remain inside this is just an electronic way for parents to monitor their child and ensure that they do remain in the assigned play area.

Whether the child leaves this area on their own or through the coercion of a stranger the child locator device will instantly send a message to the cell phone of the parent to notify them that this has occurred. If the child has been abducted this will alert parents who can alert authorities instantly of the problem. Research and studies show the first few hours after an abduction is crucial to finding the child. As more time passes it becomes harder for investigators to locate missing individuals. With the Amber Alert should a child leave their safe zone parents will know immediately what happened not minutes or hours later.

Parents can easily program in the safe zone for their child through the Amber Alert web interface. Should they have any problems getting this feature setup the support staff is available to assist them in order to get the most benefit of protecting their child with this personal tracking device.

Make To & From School Safer For Kids With A GPS Tracking Device

While there are many laws to keep child predators away from our children those laws are tough for the authorities to enforce. For this reason our kids may potentially walk by a predator on their way to school or have one drive by them as they wait at the bus stop. While we cannot keep these situations from happening we can provide a tool to help protect our children should something unfortunate occur.

A large majority of kids are kidnapped while on their way to and from school since this gives the predator a chance to watch their habits and daily routing to formulate a plan. Despite our best efforts to teach kids not to talk to strangers and to stay in groups this does not ensure that something will not happen. But an Amber Alert child locator device can go along way toward protecting them in these situations. With a panic button built right in a child can push this button should they feel threatened and instantly parents will receive a notification something is wrong. This will alert parents to take action seconds from the incident occurring not hours later when they finally find out things are not okay.

While the panic button is useful the unit is not capable of preventing a kidnapping entirely. But should the unthinkable happen parents will be able to access the GPS coordinates to find and recover their child quicker. While for some this personal tracking device may sound a bit paranoid, to parents who have lost and not found their children to a abduction many would be more than happy to have one on their child but it is too late. Do not wait until the unthinkable happens to protect your child as they go to and from school each day.

Keep Your Kids Safe While On Vacation With A Child Locator Device

Summer break would not be the same if families did not pack up and head off on a vacation to spend time together. While some travel just down the road in their car others will travel across the country in a plane to see natural wonders or even visit an amusement park. No matter where the destination though parents with children need to remember that when away from home the chances increase of their child being kidnapped or wandering off to get lost.

The unfamiliarity of the area along with the excitement of vacation combine to make parents more distracted and kids more likely to not listen as well. This can lead to kids wandering off and increase the odds that someone with ill intentions will take the child.

One of the most famous cases of a child going missing on vacation in recent years is that of Madeleine McCann which is still unsolved to this day. A GPS tracking device such as the Amber Alert can help parents quickly recover their child and keep this story from repeating itself. Whether a child wanders off on their own or are taken by a stranger these devices can be used to find them instantly for a quick recovery even when you are away from home.

The first few hours after a child goes missing are vital for a successful recovery. Statistics show that children not recovered in this time period are often not found at all. With an Amber Alert personal tracking device finding them can be quick and help bring them home while keeping your vacation safe. Of course these devices are not only useful while away from home but a wise investment for keeping kids safe while around the neighborhood at home and shopping daily.

Using The Amber Alert Child Locator While On Camping Trips

Many families enjoy spending time outside together on camping trips and there is no better way to get away from it all and experience quality time that is hard to come by these days. But for some families this fun trip can sometimes turn into scary events that do not always end well. It can be so easy for a child of any age to wander off from camp and get lost in the woods where finding them can be difficult. To make matters worse local search and rescue teams do take time to get organized and this can potentially place the child exposed to overnight conditions.

Families that use a Amber Alert GPS child locator device in their daily lives will find that this unit despite being designed for suburban use will many times work in rural areas as well. For many users they will discover that if there cell phone will work where they choose to camp then they can access the coordinates of the tracking device to find a lost child quickly.

Though not a guarantee, depending on where the family is camping, this GPS tracking unit can potentially help parents find a child that has wandered off from camp quickly to prevent them from spending a cold night outside. If the child has gotten hurt while they were lost it can also help them get the medical attention they truly need faster in order to take care of them the best.

While not a substitute for staying together in the first place or even for a well trained search and rescue team, this GPS tracking device can help get kids home faster and keep them safe both at home and when away with the family.

Tragic News With GPS in the Headlines!

I read a very tragic story today on cnn.com about a precious little 7th grade girl in Washington state who was brutally murdered by a registered sex offender. One of the things that really bugged me about this is that the sex offender was being monitored with a GPS tracking device, but no one was watching him at the time of the crime.

Here is a link to the story:

http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/03/12/sex.offender.gps/index.html?iref=mpstoryview

I truly wish that the little girl had a GPS unit on her instead! Surely her parents would have been far more vigilant of their daughter than the department of corrections is of their parolees. Her parents, who warned their daughter against going through the rough part of town where she was murdered, could have been spared this heartache by the “safe zone” feature of the Amber Alert GPS child locator device because the minute she crossed over into the forbidden area, her parents would have received an alert about her being in forbidden territory and they could have retrieved her immediately.

What an absolute heartbreak! I have small children and the thought of them being attacked when it could have been prevented makes me so sad. The world is becoming an increasingly dangerous and untrustworthy place. We must do all we can with the available technology to keep our families safe.
