The news seems to be constantly filled with stories of children who are taken from their usual routines by both acquaintances and even family and in some cases these children are never seen again. Other than a few rare well publicized incidents such as Elizabeth Smart the children that are seen again are found fairly quickly to be return to their families.
If you ask an authority on the subject the first few hours after and abduction are crucial to a child returning home safely as the longer they are gone the better chance they will not be found again. The longer a child is with an abductor the wider the potential search area can become and without a clear idea of where the child is being taken man power can become so spread out the search becomes futile.
Just a few years ago parents had nothing they could do to potentially save their child in this situation and that was to teach their child not to talk to strangers or get in their cars. Parents today have technology on their side and can place a personal tracking device on their child in order to be able to locate them at any given time. With this information coordinates can be passed on to a cell phone that contain the location of a child so that authorities can recover them in that precious first few hours.
While the odds of it happening to any one family are slim it can happen and for those who are prepared finding their child in an emergency is a snap with a personal tracking device such as the Amber Alert all for a low cost that is worth every penny for a little peace of mind.
