Will Amber Alert GPS work anywhere?
The Amber Alert GPS device is dependant upon 2 technologies – GPS and cell phone. Anywhere you can receive both a GPS signal and cell phone reception, the Amber Alert will work.
Can I use my land line to receive messages from my GPS device?
No. Land lines cannot receive text messages. The GPS device responds to the request by sending a text message with the location. This feature is what makes Amber Alert GPS mobile.
Can anyone call my GPS device?
The first 5 people that call your GPS device will be the designated users. Keep your GPS device phone number guarded. Only give this number to people you want to help with the safety of your child. You can lock down your GPS device to your cell phone number by following the “Administration Set-Up” instructions in the manual. This will allow you to be the administrator of the device and only add the cell phone numbers of the people you want.
Will the Amber Alert GPS work with any mobile phone carrier?
Yes. You do not have to change mobile phone carriers. Amber Alert GPS will work with your current mobile phone provider.
Do I need a special phone to view the maps on my phone?
Yes. If you would like to take full advantage of being able to track your child through our mobile feature, then you will need a Smartphone or a phone with Internet data services. This will allow you to highlight the link that is sent to you by text, and pull up the map with the location where ever you are.
Will Amber Alert GPS work out of the country?
Yes as long as your mobile phone can call and receive texts in another country. The GPS technology will work world wide.
