Does my “Teen” App automatically keep tracking if I restart my phone?

Android: Yes iPhone: The following comments apply only to iPhone users: If your child’s “Teen” App is on the “Location Change” setting, the App will restart automatically and update on significant location changes. If your child us on the “Location Change + 10” setting, the “Teen” App will restart automatically but it will only update on significant location changes. To get back to the “Location Change + 10” setting, you must login to the “Teen” App on your child’s phone and select the “Location Change + 10” setting to restart your desired location update setting. If you are on an “Interval” setting, the “Teen” App will NOT restart automatically. You must login to the “Teen” App on your child’s phone and select the desired “Interval” setting to restart interval reporting. The Android will automatically restart all settings as soon as the Android device running the “Teen App is turned back on.

If my child puts their Smartphone on Airplane Mode, will the “Teen” App restart automatically when my child turns off Airplane Mode?

Yes. The “Teen” App restarts automatically after coming out of Airplane mode.

Why does my child’s battery drain faster when running the “Teen” App?

We use the best possible location processes to locate your child, which requires the location-based services to always run in the background. As a result, the “Teen” App will cause higher than normal battery drain. Estimated battery life varies significantly depending upon the type of phone, general conditions, and extent of phone use.

Where do I download the “Teen” Application?

Where do I download the “Parent” Application?

How do I track my child’s Amber Alert GPS device from my Smartphone?

If you already have an Amber Alert GPS device, download the FREE “Parent” App onto your Smartphone to get all the same benefits you are accustomed to seeing on the Amber Alert GPS Tracking Portal: Live Tracking, Location History, Customized Zone Alerts, Predator Alerts, Speed Alerts and much more! Remember to be sure and use the same username (email) and password on the “Parent” App login page that you already use for your Amber Alert GPS device.

How do I track my Smartphone-carrying teenager?

To track your Smartphone-carrying tween or teen, or to track multiple Smartphones and Amber Alert GPS devices (your little ones and your older ones too), just do this: FIRST: Download the “Teen” App onto your child’s Smartphone. SECOND: Download the companion app, “Parent“, onto your (the parent’s) Smartphone. BE SURE to use the same username and password that you used when you downloaded the “Teen” App onto your child’s Smartphone. This step is really important, because it is your unique username and password that links you to your child’s secure location information. If you are registering multiple Smartphones, remember to use the same username (email) and password on ALL of your “Teen” App downloads. Once these two steps are complete, you can monitor your child’s location 24/7 from the “Parent” App on your Smartphone.

Once I become a Portal Member, what steps should I take to optimize my experience and enhance my family’s safety?

Parents: We assume that you have already taken the following two steps: FIRST: Download the “Teen” App onto your child’s Smartphone. SECOND: Download our companion app, called the Amber Alert GPS “Parent“, onto your Smartphone. If you have downloaded the Apps and you do NOT see your child’s location information when you open your “Parent” App on your Smartphone, check to be sure you are using the same username (email) and password on the “Parent” App login page that you used when you downloaded the “Teen” App on your child’s Smartphone. If you are registering multiple Smartphones, remember to use the same username (email) and password on ALL of your “Teen” App downloads. Once your Apps are downloaded, please take the following steps: 1. Visit the Amber Alert GPS Tracking Portal. This is where you will establish all your settings and Alerts for each tracked device. To access the Portal, go to http://www.amberalertgps.com. In the top right hand corner of the website, click on “Portal Login”. From the Login page, enter your secure user name (email) and password. 2. Click the Settings Tab and name each child’s tracked device (e.g. Timmy) Go to the “Device Name” box and insert your child’s name or nickname. Also remember to select your desired reporting “Time Zone” for each tracked device and your desired “App Reporting Interval” (e.g. 10 minutes, 15 minutes, etc.). We do not suggest an interval lower than 10 minutes because it will have a significant impact on the battery life of the tracked device. 3. Click the Alerts Tab and set up all your Alerts, including Zone Alert, Speed Alerts, Predator Alerts & Breadcrumb Alerts. For Zone Alerts, parents typically establish Zones around the areas most frequented by their children, such as home, school, the mall, the soccer field, etc. Remember that you have to set Alerts for each tracked device. You have the ability to turn Alerts on and off from both the Tracking Portal and from the “Parent” App. For all Alerts that you desire to receive, make sure that you have turned the “Current Status” to “On” (this option is available on each Alert tab and in the “Parent” App). 4. Click the Users Tab and designate the individuals that will be Authorized Parents for each device. Make sure that you designate the level of access you want each user to have (from Alerts Only up to Full Admin Access). This is an important security feature. If you fail to designate the level of access for a particular Authorized Parent, the system will default to the lowest level of access, which is “Alerts Only”. It is also important to designate how you want each Authorized Parent to receive Alerts. You have the choice of email only, or email and push notifications. 5. Please take a tour of the Tracking Portal and get familiar with the many features. From the Home Page, you will see a snapshot of the location of all your kids. If you want more information on where a particular child has been throughout the day, visit the Map Page. If you would like to view your child’s location history over the past 60 days, visit the History Page.
